7digital What we said: When dance-punk quartet Late of The Pier parted ways in 2010, frontman Sam Dust disappeared from view. Five years on, it transpires that he was busy all the while, quietly honing a solo debut that was partially inspired by a field trip to Greenland to study “the effects of the Ivittuut region’s electro-magnetic phenomena on recorded sound.” Without a band to please, Dust has been free to revel in his own eccentricities, and Inji finds him following these impulses by journeying between psychedelic electro-pop and hedonistic, AFX-style loops, with the odd exhilarating funk detour. It’s a thrill to disappear down the rabbit hole with him.
