Slottsfjell 2017
Festival guide
Taking place from Wednesday 12th to Saturday 15th July right in the heart of Tønsberg, Norway, Slottsfjell Festival will play host to exciting local acts and internationally-acclaimed stars. From Paramore to Sigrid, Slowdive to Gucci Mane, here's our pick of the best on a line-up that covers every genre under the sun.
Top picks
Paramore
Emo might be making a comeback (we’re looking at you, Lil Peep), but Paramore’s first album in four years largely foregoes their past, falling on the “pop” side of pop punk. After Laughter is full of sugary licks of guitar and breezy, punchy choruses, at times recalling pristine 80s new wave. Between the new album and heavier past tracks like ‘Ain’t It Fun’, expect a raucous set of anthems with something for everyone.
Sigrid
If you like sweet, lilting vocals and airy, propulsive beats (à la international hit ‘Don’t Kill My Vibe’, which Lorde picked as one of her favourite songs), you’ll want to check out Sigrid. With anthemic songs about heartbreak, friendship and youth, it’s no wonder she’s become Scandi-pop’s current ‘it girl’. Indeed, catching the Norway local performing on her homeground is sure to be all kinds of spectacular.
Slowdive
When Slowdive announced they were getting back together in 2014, the world of indie-types rejoiced. Better still, then, has been 2017, which has seen them release a new album 23 years since the last. The self-titled record is a real accomplishment, cementing their place completely as true legends of gorgeous, drifting shoegaze. If you want to ruminate and witness something quite special and prolific, get to this set.

More from the line-up
- Charli XCX just called loads of friends to come party. We trashed the house...
- My inner happiness depends on me being loud, and telling everyone what I want.
- I’m such a champion of people following their gut... It sounds like such a cliché, but staying true to yourself really is important.
