7digital What we said: Towering over the eastern suburbs of Minneapolis is a row of disused grain elevators, tagged by local graffiti crew ’United Crushers’. In addition to borrowing the name, Poliça have harnessed the same defiant, anti-establishment spirit for this third full-length. Where once Channy Leaneagh’s lyrics focused primarily on personal experiences, she’s now casting her eye over social concerns, including violent crime, the war on drugs and the militarisation of police. The album’s lyrical weight is skilfully matched by its aggressive kinetic energy, but the synth-pop five-piece also provide respite with some of their strongest and most melodic songwriting to date, most notably on 'Lime Habit' and 'Wedding'.
